We are based in Ravenna in a former farmhouse: the average age is around 35 years, and we invest part of our time daily in research and development to achieve simplicity and convenience. As we approach 2020, for a datacenter to be competitive, it must have a critical mass of at least 10,000 square meters (a few thousand racks and at least 50,000 servers) in Italy. It must concentrate resources and expertise that would not be possible in a structure of just a few dozen racks. Even at the energy level, significant investments are required to maintain reliable power supply, which remains the first concern of any highly energy-consuming facility.

Enterprise means that a server has very compact dimensions (space optimization), redundancy on every module prone to failure, therefore it has 2 power supplies, a greater number of heat sinks, ECC memory, RAID for the operating system, RAID for storage, hot-swap hard drives, monitoring systems, remote management, and is built with high-quality materials. Regarding Cisco, all devices are installed in pairs and managed by an additional redundant power supply (in datacenters, the first cause of downtime is transformer failure).
